HCL provided project management and design services to pave the gravel road portion of the Roxborough State Park entrance road. Project management included working with a project team comprised of surveying (HCL), geotechnical engineering (Kumar), landscape engineering (Norris), traffic engineering (LCS), and environmental engineering (Pinyon) to ensure an efficient design meeting all engineering, landscaping, and environmental requirements. Design work included examining the existing road and creating a new roadway section and alignment that ties into the existing topography. Drainage design improvements were also made to ensure runoff is effectively conveyed under the new roadway utilizing roadway swales, check dams, and culverts. HCL ensured environmental clearances were obtained for the work area and HCL worked with Aurora Water to ensure the improvements over the Aurora Rampart Tunnel easement were acceptable to Aurora Water. Utilizing a drone survey and a simple but effective design, the project was bid under budget allowing for additional repairs on the existing asphalt that connected to the new roadway.
