HCL was the prime consultant for the design, bid, and construction administration phases for the site and the 5,600 SF new pre-engineered metal building. The design challenge for this facility was to provide a much-needed industrial type facility within the context of a residential neighborhood while incorporating publicly accessed athletic storage areas for the community. Key elements to this facility included south facing maintenance bay overhead doors to reduce snow and ice build up on the roof in the winter months, while allowing for future solar panel installation. The smaller footprint of the office portion of the facility faced the street with a dedicated office, restrooms, storage and a multi-purpose conference and break room. Daylighting strategies provided ample glazing in the office and maintenance bays to reduce the need and operational costs of artificial lighting. LED lighting was incorporated throughout, and a sand/oil interceptor was included to filter debris from the sanitary waste line.
