Structures
Safety is one of HCL’s key values. All of our structural projects are designed with safety first and foremost in mind. Past and current projects include highway and pedestrian bridges, culverts, outfall structures, retaining walls, sound walls, vaults, water storage tanks, and numerous buildings, including schools, fire stations, office buildings, and multi-family developments.

Sand Storage Building
Summit County, Colorado
HCL provided structural design and construction administration of a new $1.5M sand storage building to replace the existing structure. The project also included the installation of a new 30 foot tall segmental block retaining wall. The new storage structure consisted of steel bar joists and steel framing on top of a 12 foot tall, cast-in-place concrete foundation wall. The structure is founded on spread footings and posed several challenges, including its unusual shape, providing a large opening for loading and unloading sand, and delivering a durable structure.

Wolfensberger Pedestrian Bridge
Castle Rock, Colorado
HCL provided bridge and retaining wall design, as well as full structural plans for this high-profile pedestrian bridge in Castle Rock. The project also included grading, erosion, and sediment control plans, Stormwater Discharge Permit application, and design survey. HCL also provided construction documents.

FasTracks Eagle P3
Denver, Colorado
HCL participated in this $2.03B RTD commuter rail project on the three corridors (Gold, Northwest Electrified Segment, and East) for all 14 proposed stations. The overall design of the stations incorporated the commuter rail with light rail and park-n-rides, as well as bus station facilities, structured parking, pedestrian bridges, pedestrian underpasses, and local street and drainage improvements. HCL assisted with the structural design of all station elements, including four pedestrian bridges, two underpasses, five canopy styles, and all miscellaneous station platform elements.
