Alexander Svecz, of HCL’s Civil Engineering department, is officially a professional engineer with the State of Colorado. In addition to studying for the exam, he’s been busy at HCL, where he’s currently working as a project engineer on a recreation center, two different road improvement projects, and a townhome development, providing storm and sanitary sewer design, water quality features, erosion and sediment control, site drainage and grading, and ADA improvements.
Alex grew up in a historic farmhouse in Hamilton, New Jersey, and worked at the family’s construction business. He spent a lot of his time playing sports, regularly went deep sea fishing, gardened, and helped take care of their many pets, including cats, chickens, dogs, and rabbits.
In high school, Alex was a captain of the football team, which played in the state championship game. He attended Rowan University in New Jersey, where he studied civil and environmental engineering, graduating with his B.S. in 2017. After college, he worked in New Jersey and California on various engineering projects, such as highway improvement, bridge design, dam analysis, master drainage plans, and land development. He also pursued his passion for playing and coaching indoor volleyball.
Alex relocated to the Denver area this year and lives with his significant other, Courtney, and their two kittens, Koda and Kaia. They enjoy trail running and playing beach volleyball, and look forward to enjoying all the outdoor activities that Colorado has to offer. He hopes to one day own a home in the mountains and wants to visit every national park in the U.S.
Congrats to Alex on passing the P.E. exam!
